Internal promotion
Also: promoted from within
On CFO Tribune, an internal promotion is a CFO appointment where the filing shows the incoming officer already worked at the company before the appointment, for example as treasurer, controller or a finance vice president. The field is true only when the filing says so and false only when the filing shows the officer came from outside; otherwise it is not established, and the record does not infer it from a name or a news report. A departure carries no value, because it names no incoming officer. The record holds 140 internal promotions so far, and its share of internal promotions counts only the appointments whose origin the filing establishes. This is the record's own convention, set out in the methodology.
