Accession number
Also: accession no.
An accession number is the unique identifier EDGAR gives each accepted submission. The SEC describes it as "a unique identifier assigned automatically to an accepted submission by EDGAR." It has three parts separated by dashes. The first is the CIK of the entity that submitted the filing, which "could be the company or a third-party filer agent"; the next two digits represent the year; and the last part is "a sequential count of submitted filings from that CIK." The same number, without its dashes, names the filing's folder in the EDGAR archive. CFO Tribune records the accession number of each move's filing, so every move points to one filing.
